Mark Clark facilitated creation of two new scholarships in NSS Master’s program: (1) The Captain Paul Vince Vegna USAF Memorial Scholarship (4 per year) for excellence in academics and contribution to the program; and (2) Craig and Jennifer Fuher Alumni Award for top NSS M.A. student. Other activities for Professor Clark include:
- Facilitated gift of software to CSUSB from i2 Corporation in the amount of $ 5.5 million.
- Negotiated agreement with British Columbia Institute of Technology whose students will be able to enroll in the NSS program.
- Named President, Association for the Study of Middle East and Africa, which has 500 members in 40 countries
William Green was named the 2007-08 Golden Apple winner for his excellence in teaching.
Al Mariam was voted “2007 Person of the Year” by the Ethiopian Review. Dr. Mariam was recognized for his contribution to the betterment of Ethiopia by working to ensure the passage of H.R. 2003 (Ethiopia Democracy and Accountability Act of 2007) in the United States.
