CSUSB is one of the four campuses in the seven-campus CSU Intelligence Community Center of Academic Excellence Consortium (CSU-ACE) that will receive investigative and analytical software totaling $5.5 million. This is the second gift this year from i2, who previously donated over $1.1 million worth of the software program, “Analyst’s Notebook” to the National Securities Program.
In addition to “Analyst’s Notebook,” the $5.5 million gift also includes iBase, iBridge, TextChart and Analyst’s Workstation. The gift will boost classroom study and analysis for national security studies. Political Science Professor and Director of CSU-ACE and CSUSB’s National Security Studies Program, Mark T. Clark, states that “using this software in the classroom will help students learn about some of the latest technology in use by federal law enforcement and intelligence agencies that assist in analyzing complex phenomena, such as terrorist and criminal financing.” Dr. Clark expects that by testing this software in the classroom, “we will be able to introduce more software-assisted tools of analysis in other courses.”
In addition to CSUSB, the CSU-ACE consists of the Long Beach, Bakersfield, Domingues Hills, Fullerton, Northridge, and Pomona campuses of the CSU. For more information on CSU-ACE, contact Professor Mark Clark at (909) 537-5534, or visit the consortium’s website at http://www.csu-ace.org. |
