Larry Gaines, provided comments on the complexities of an 4 officer-involved shooting in Chino, CA. In the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin, criminal justice professor Larry Gaines was quoted in an article about an officer-involved shooting following a bank robbery and chase on Feb. 4.
Authorities said a man robbed the Corona branch of Pacific Premier Bank, 102 E. Sixth St., about 4:05 p.m. and led officers on a chase into Chino, where he crashed on a road that is closed for construction. On Pine Avenue, between Euclid and Fern avenues, two officers fatally shot the man.
Gaines said the complexity of the investigation or different department policies could be causing the delay of details being released to the public. "One of the things police departments don't want to do is they don't want to go out and release information that turns out to be incorrect," he said. "That causes more problems in the public eye as compared to them taking their time to release the information."
