James Fenelon, Professor of Sociology and Director of Center for Indigenous Peoples Studies, presented a workshop at the ASA Director of Graduate Studies Conference. The Conference was entitled; "Fostering Meaningful Diversity in Graduate School Programs: Insights from the Report of the ASA Committee on the Status of Racial and Ethnic Minorities in Sociology".
Brian Janiskee, Professor and Chair of Political Science was recognized by the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency (NGA) Academic Research Program Symposium at the National Academy of Sciences in Washington D.C. His poster which contained results on the use of transit countries by terrorist groups, and the potential for video games to be used as tools for radicalization, recruitment and training was awarded Best Research Poster.
Tiffany Jones presented a paper entitled, "Psychiatrization of Criminality and the Criminality of Mental Disorder: Re-Interpreting Intersections of Prisons and Madness in the Context of Apartheid South Africa" at the New Directions in the Histories of Health, Healing & Medicine in African Contexts Workshop in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa from 19th-21st of August, 2012.
